Suspended particle monitor

The Vair-9009 from Vasthi Instruments is an online and real-time beta attenuation monitor. The device continuously measures the concentration of environmental particles collected on a glass filter tape with a temporal resolution of 1 hour. The Vair-9009 uses an online sampling geometry that measures beta attenuation in the filtering medium while simultaneously sampling particles. This allows for environmental sampling 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It also enables accurate readings of beta radiation measurements throughout the hour, improving sensitivity and temporal resolution.

The Vair-9009 uses a unique in-situ sampling technique to maintain beta radiation measurement at a nearly constant temperature above ambient temperature. This prevents the loss of semi-volatile particles or excess moisture in the sample flow, thereby minimizing measurement errors. Accurate measurements are obtained without the need for expensive Nation dryers, improving reliability and reducing operational costs. The integrated shelter does not use air conditioning, and the sampling system does not use flow dividers. This facilitates maintenance, enhances reliability, and reduces energy consumption.

The Vair-9009 is housed in a lightweight equipment shelter with an easily removable pump box, making it ideal for installation in locations where permanent structures or walk-in shelters are not available. This device does not require air conditioning, resulting in lower energy consumption. No component of the instrument weighs more than 18.14 kg (40 pounds), allowing a single person to transport it easily. The user can set up the entire system in less than 10 minutes.
